WELCOME!

Hello and welcome to Scary Stories, the website of Leila Eadie, aspiring author. I've been writing for pretty much as long as I can remember, but only started sending my stories out to publishers in the past few years. I've been mainly working on short stories but there are a couple of longer pieces I add to from time to time. My preferred genres are horror and fantasy, and I've now sold a number of stories to various venues. Check out the Fiction page for links to my work.

News and updates will appear below. Have a look around. Get to know my twisted mind...

Here's a quick update: History is Dead (containing Society and Sickness) and Ruins Terra (containing The Tomb) are now asvailable to buy or pre-order. I've seen copies of both of these books and I can thoroughly recommend them - they're packed with wonderful stories!

Another sale: A Little Knowledge will be in the May issue of new print magazine The Willows. The editor has been very enthusiastic and helpful, and I look forward to seeing the magazine!

The anthology resulting from the Whispering Spirits contest will be available very shortly, featuring my story The Mistletoe Pool. I've received an electronic contributor copy and although I've not had a chance to read through it yet, there are some familiar names on the contents page, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the stories when I get a moment to read them...

My first story sale of the year is now official! Society and Sickness, a Jane Austen zombie parody, has been accepted for inclusion in Dr Kim Paffenroth's History is Dead anthology. I'm very much looking forward to seeing this anthology as I think it's going to be something special. I'll add more details here as I get them!

Happy 2007! Despite my lack of enthusiasm for Januaries, I have written two new stories so far this year - can't be bad!

No new story news to report (I have been sending them out though!) but I've been talked into doing NaNoWriMo this year... So it's likely to be a very busy November. I've got an idea which should last the required 50,000 words and is pretty interesting (I think), so I'm going to go for it. Good luck to all who are participating! -- Quick update -- Yay! I've done it: 50,000 words in a month (slightly less than a month in the end!), so here's my winner's icon...

The Mistletoe Pool will be appearing in the Whispering Spirits e-anthology which is currently at the editing stage and should be available at the start of 2007.

Out now and ready to read are In the Forest, Waiting in Forgotten Worlds Issue 1 and The Autobiographer online in Electric Spec Issue 2!

I have a couple more acceptances to report (yay!): New UK print magazine Forgotten Worlds will contain In the Forest, Waiting in its first issue, due out at the end of April. It's a story I like a lot, and am extremely glad it will be out and about for everyone to read! Also, The Serial Killer's Search for True Love will be in the Blood, Guts and Psychopaths anthology from Maniac Press, to be published later this year - UPDATE - This is another one that's suddenly died before publication... I've also been rewriting some stories I've not looked at for a while, some which have never been sent out before, and these are now ready to go... Wish them luck!

I've been having a bit of a break from sending out submissions, but available now are Tales of the Talisman (the new incarnation of Hadrosaur Tales), a smart A4 glossy mag, containing my story Here Be Dragons, and Caught Red Handed is now available in the anthology Trip The Light Horrific. Finally, The Dark Krypt have got my story Marina up on their site. Go see!

I've done a bit of website re-jigging, making the navigation menu move down the page with you so that you don't have to scroll back to the top of the page each time. This appears to set off the 'active content' warning with Win XP, but that's all that I've done - there's nothing nasty, I promise!

Another whole year's worth of Flashshots, including several of mine, are now available Flashshot: Year One, and Flashshot: Year Two, e-books out now!
